Clarkson Public School District #58
Clarkson Public Schools is a PK–12 accredited district covering approximately 80 square miles in Colfax, Platte, and Stanton Counties in rural Nebraska. Clarkson sits between the cities of Fremont, Columbus, and Norfolk, and is just one hour from Omaha. As of 2026, we are proudly Home of the Clarkson Coyotes, established with a renewed commitment to excellence and community pride.
Clarkson Public Schools provides an exceptional learning environment supported by a dedicated, student-centered staff. The relationships and experiences formed here are treasured by students, families, teachers, and administrators alike.
Our highly rated early childhood program offers three-year-old preschool in the mornings and four-year-old preschool in the afternoons, with transportation provided to and from home. This program gives our youngest learners strong foundational skills as they prepare for Kindergarten.
Our elementary school features outstanding educators and self-contained classrooms for grades K–3, followed by a middle school model for grades 4–6. Students experience robust technology access, STEM, PE, music, band, keyboarding, guidance, and art, alongside strong core instruction. With a fully 1:1 environment supported by iPad and MacBook carts, our students gain essential digital skills.
At the high school level, Clarkson is a fully 1:1 school offering a broad range of courses, including fine arts, agriculture, technology, business, and family and consumer sciences. We provide exceptional Career Technical Education (CTE) opportunities designed to prepare students for success beyond graduation. Through job shadowing, paid internships, college and dual-credit classes, and hands-on career pathways, students gain real-world experience and often graduate with significant college credit already completed. Our online learning management system, Canvas, supports access to digital materials and personalized learning.
We also support student growth beyond the classroom through numerous activities, including FBLA, FCCLA, FFA, speech, one-act, band, chorus, and Stream Team, helping students build leadership, creativity, and teamwork skills.
Clarkson Public Schools provides strong special education services, including a dedicated life skills house where students practice independent living and vocational abilities.
Our district offers a wide range of athletic opportunities for students, including volleyball, softball, girls’ and boys’ golf, football, girls’ and boys’ basketball, wrestling, and girls’ and boys’ track.
In addition, our elementary students benefit from engaging summer learning through the Coyote Academy, offering hands-on educational experiences connected to the community.

Parochial
St. John Neumann Catholic School
St. John Neumann Catholic School is a state accredited grades PK, 1-6 school, dedicated to providing the means and atmosphere for children to grow spiritually, intellectually, socially and physically. All teachers are state certified and core curriculum textbooks are copyrighted within the last five years. The curriculum stresses skills in math, science, social studies, language arts and religion with weekly art, music, computer and physical education classes. Students have daily exposure to Catholic values, traditions and devotions. Small classes allow for individualized attention to children's learning needs.
Students are included in many parish activities. They participate in mass, both at school and at church by reading and leading the singing. They also become altar servers beginning in the fourth grade.
St. John Neumann students also participate in community life. They regularly entertain at the nursing home and help with bingo. They have an annual collection for a food pantry. They collect pop can tabs for the Ronald McDonald House, collect toys for needy children and participate with the public school in a Veteran's Day program.
Special events throughout the year include monthly birthday assemblies, educational field trips, and Christmas and spring programs. Catholic Schools Week is a much-anticipated week filled with activities each day. We begin the week with an all-school mass and end the week with a family potluck meal.
Parents have a close relationship with the school. They are active in parent-teacher conferences, holiday parties, field trips, fundraising and yearly summer clean up.
We are proud of our school and look forward to a future that will continue to offer our families a choice in quality Catholic education.

Opera House
The Clarkson Opera House traces its roots to September 23, 1913, when the ZCBJ bought lots for a brick structure for meetings, Czech-language entertainment, concerts, dances, movies, and family celebrations.
The ZCBJ managed the Opera House until February 5, 1963, when the building was leased to Clarkson VFW Post 6419. Over the years, the VFW had the building rewired, remodeled the rest rooms and kitchen, added heaters and ceiling fans. After nearly 40 years, the VFW members realized younger people were needed to revitalize this cultural treasure in Clarkson.
In June 2002, Clarkson Community Opera House Inc., a non-profit organization, took over the Opera House. The group plans to refinish the dance floor, replace the old heating and air conditioning systems, add new wiring, ceiling fans in the dance area, and handicapped ramps. The Opera House continues to be the year-around center for family and community activities, including special events during the annual Czech Festivals in late June. Still carefully used are the many old-fashioned backdrops on the stage.
